Get ready for a musical journey like no other! The legacy of MC5 lives on through an extraordinary collaboration.
MC50, a powerhouse band bringing together iconic musicians from Soundgarden, Faith No More, Fugazi, and more, has just dropped a major announcement. They're releasing a brand-new live album titled '10 More', scheduled to hit the shelves on December 5th.
But here's where it gets intriguing: this album is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary proto-punk band MC5. The tour, which took place in 2018, saw Wayne Kramer, the late MC5 member, join forces with Kim Thayil, Brendan Canty, Billy Gould, Matt Cameron, and Marcus Durant, creating a unique musical experience.
The title '10 More' holds a special significance. It's a nod to an earlier live album featuring different tracks from the same tour, which was included as a bonus in the deluxe edition of MC5's 2024 album, 'Heavy Lifting'.
The tracklist for '10 More' is a punchy mix of MC5 classics and a soulful cover. You'll hear 'The American Ruse', 'Call Me Animal', and 'Rocket Reducer No. 62 (Rama Lama Fa-Fa-Fa)' alongside 'I Believe To My Soul', originally by Ray Charles. These tunes were recorded during electrifying performances in Seattle, Cincinnati, and Hamburg, Germany.
Sadly, the MC5 family suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Wayne Kramer in February 2024, followed by the untimely death of drummer Dennis Thompson a few months later. This leaves no surviving members from the classic MC5 lineup.
