Fuel prices are on the move again, and it's a mixed bag for Filipino consumers! Brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride at the pumps.
On Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, fuel retailers are playing a game of tug-of-war with your wallet. Gasoline prices are set to surge, leaving drivers of petrol-powered vehicles feeling the pinch. But here's where it gets interesting: diesel and kerosene prices are taking a dive, offering some relief to truckers and those relying on these fuels.
Major players like Chevron Philippines (Caltex), Petron Corp., Seaoil Philippines Corp., and Shell Pilipinas Corp. are leading the charge, adjusting prices by PHP 0.20 per liter for gasoline, PHP 2.90 less for diesel, and a whopping PHP 3.20 rollback on kerosene. Other companies, such as Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT Philippines Corp., and Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc., are following suit, except for kerosene, which they don't offer.
The timing of these changes is crucial. Most firms will implement the new prices at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, except for Cleanfuel, which will wait until 8:01 a.m. to make the switch. And this is the part most people miss: these adjustments come on the heels of last week's price changes, which saw a net increase in gasoline, diesel, and kerosene prices for the year so far.
But why the sudden shift? The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) hinted at a possible reason: the Ukraine-Russia ceasefire. If this ceasefire holds, Western sanctions on Russian oil could be lifted, potentially flooding the market with more supply than demand. And that's a recipe for price adjustments.
So, what does this mean for your fuel costs? Well, it depends on what's in your tank. Gasoline users might feel a bit of a sting, while diesel and kerosene consumers could breathe a small sigh of relief. But in the ever-changing world of fuel prices, one thing is certain: we're all along for the ride.
