Aprilia RS-GP: The Aerodynamic King of MotoGP? Beating Ducati in 2025! (2025)

Aprilia's Bold Claim: Is the RS-GP the Aerodynamic King of MotoGP?

Aprilia's CEO, Massimo Rivola, has made a compelling statement: he believes the RS-GP is the benchmark for aerodynamic performance in MotoGP. Following a victorious performance in Portugal, this declaration has certainly stirred the pot.

Aprilia is wrapping up its most successful MotoGP season to date. They've clinched three Grand Prix wins, secured the runner-up position in the manufacturers' standings, and are poised to finish third in the riders' rankings with Marco Bezzecchi. This remarkable progress has positioned the RS-GP as a genuine contender to Ducati's current dominance, heading into the 2026 season.

Bezzecchi's commanding victory in the Portuguese Grand Prix, outpacing Gresini Ducati's Alex Marquez, further fueled this narrative. Notably, the highest-ranking factory Desmosedici finished in eighth place.

Rivola, speaking to TNT Sport, highlighted Aprilia's aerodynamic prowess, especially after their strong showing in Portugal. He acknowledged Ducati still possesses the "best bike" overall, but he emphasized the narrowing gap between the brands.

"I think that we are getting better and better," Rivola stated, suggesting that fast tracks favor Aprilia, possibly due to their aerodynamic advantages. He added that the downforce created at higher speeds might be a key factor. Rivola also noted the competitive landscape, acknowledging the strong performances of all five manufacturers and the increasing importance of the "human factor." He highlighted the strong chemistry between the team and Marco Bezzecchi.

But here's where it gets controversial... While competition is intensifying, Ducati has maintained its dominance in the 2025 season. Out of the 21 rounds held so far, Ducati has scored less than 30 points in only two, and has only failed to win a sprint or grand prix in one round. This underscores the challenge Aprilia faces, despite its recent successes.

And this is the part most people miss... The improvements in Aprilia's RS-GP are undeniable, but Ducati's consistency is hard to ignore. What do you think? Is Aprilia's aerodynamic advantage enough to topple Ducati? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
